God's Design Our Story

We live in a world full of noise about what it means to be a woman, not to mention what it means to be a woman in ministry. But when we look back at our origin story—God’s Word—we discover something powerful, beautiful, and deeply intentional about who we are and our purpose in His Kingdom.

Our Origin Story

As a mom of two boys, I’ve experienced the wild energy of sons after growing up surrounded by only a sister. Instead of football on Sundays we watched figure skating. I never knew football lasts all day. It reminds me how uniquely and wonderfully God designed both women and men.

Knowing where we come from helps us understand who we are and why we’re here.

Eve is known as the mother of all living. She was the first woman, first mother, and the first to feel the sting of loss.

Created in His Image

Genesis 1:26-27 tells us that both male and female were created in God’s image.

"Let us make man in our image... male and female He created them."

This isn’t just a poetic statement—it’s one of the most profound truths in Scripture. You and I carry the image of God.

Pastor Chuck Smith said it well: “Why did God create us in His image? Because He wanted a meaningful, loving relationship with His creation.”

Eve wasn’t an afterthought. She was crafted with purpose, to reflect His nature and be in relationship with Him.

1. We Are Created for Relationship with God

Before Eve was ever connected to Adam, she was connected to God.

Too often, we skip ahead to Eve as a wife and partner. But the first and most important truth is this: Eve was created for a personal relationship with God.

God doesn’t take breaks from you. He doesn’t withdraw when life gets messy. His heart cries out, “How can I be closer to you?”

You are not an extra. You are the desire of His heart.

2. We Are Made to Reflect His Image

Eve wasn’t created in Adam’s image—she was created in God’s. From the very beginning, both men and women were given equal value and purpose.

We aren’t called to reflect Adam, we are called to reflect Christ.

Genesis 1:27 – “Male and female He created them.”

From the beginning, men and women were created equally in God’s image, equally for relationship, and equally to reflect His character. There’s no hierarchy in Genesis 1—just partnership.

Eve was not Adam’s shadow. She was God's shadow.

And so are you. Not a lesser version. Not a background character. You are His reflection.

3. We Are Made for Relationship with Others

Genesis 2:18 says, “It is not good for man to be alone.”  So God created Eve—not as a quiet assistant or a silent partner, but as a helper suitable for him.

The world helper in Hebrew is Ezer Kenegdo. It means:

  • To rescue

  • To deliver

  • To be strong where others are weak

The word Ezer is used only 19 other times in Scripture—16 of those refer to God Himself as Israel’s helper, shield, and deliverer. The 3 other times refer to military deliverance.

This wasn’t a sidekick role—it was one of strength, courage, and partnership.

Eve was a co-laborer, co-defender, and co-creator.

Built for Battle, Built for Love

Genesis 2:22 says, "Then the rib which the Lord God had taken from man He made into a woman."

The Hebrew word for made is Banah—meaning to construct, to establish, to build.

That’s who you are: carefully constructed by God to reflect His strength, His justice, and His love. You are an Ezer, designed for relationship, community, and kingdom impact.

Time to Rise, Warrior Women

The enemy has tried to distort our identity, causing us to compare, shrink, and question our worth. But it’s time to remember who we are.

We were not created for the shadows.

We were created to reflect God, to love deeply, to build boldly, and to stand strong in our purpose.

So let’s rise as the Ezers we were made to be.

Let’s build instead of tear down.

Let’s champion instead of compete.

Let’s reflect the One who made us.
